There were many regrets that put turmoil in the Beast’s heart, but one of the worst was the fact that he hadn’t been the only one cursed by the Enchantress for his mistake.
When the curse transformed the castle’s entire staff into objects, they were forced into a state of immobility in more ways than one. They could never age, nor could they experience the richness and adventure life had to offer. This meant Chip, the eight-year-old son of the housekeeper Mrs. Potts, spent the last ten years living the life of an innocent child while his closest friend locked himself into isolation with a wilting rose.
Even after the curse was lifted, it took years before the Beast forgave himself for putting Chip through something like that. Although it never occurred to him that Chip had already forgiven him for it a long, long time ago.
(Something I found in my unfinished art folder from last year. Slapped some gradients on it, and here you go.)
